ATTIC CLEAN-UP SERVICES LA

Pure Eco provides professional attic cleaning services throughout Los Angeles. Attic cleaning is not glamorous, but it is foundational. A contaminated attic cannot be effectively insulated until it is properly cleaned and sanitized. And in a city as old and as densely populated as Los Angeles, contaminated attics are common.

Most Los Angeles homeowners never think about their attic until something forces them to. A spike in energy bills. A smell that is hard to place. A pest control company that finds evidence of rodent activity. An insulation contractor who opens the hatch and finds conditions that should have been addressed years ago.

Instead of waiting for a small issue to become a major health hazard, you can proactively secure your home’s foundation with a team that values long-term results.

WHY ATTIC CLEANING IS A SIGNIFICANT NEED IN LOS ANGELES

Los Angeles has one of the highest urban rat populations in the country. The combination of a mild-to-hot climate, abundant food sources, aging infrastructure, and older wood-frame homes creates ideal conditions for rodent activity. Rats and mice find their way into attics through gaps in rooflines, damaged vents, and deteriorated eave materials. And once inside, they nest in insulation, leave droppings throughout the space, and can cause significant structural damage over time.

Beyond rodents, LA attics accumulate problems from age and deferred maintenance. Blown-in insulation from the 1970s breaks down into a fine particulate dust. Fiberglass batts compress and sag. Roof leaks introduce moisture that promotes mold growth. And in some older homes, legacy materials, including certain types of vermiculite insulation, may be present.

Attic cleaning and sanitizing

WHAT THE ATTIC CLEAN-UP SERVICE INVOLVES

  1. Initial inspection. We document the type and extent of contamination, identify the source of any pest activity, note the condition of existing insulation, and confirm the scope of cleaning required.
  2. Contaminated insulation removal. Using commercial-grade HEPA-filtered vacuum equipment, we extract contaminated insulation from the attic. All extracted material is bagged and disposed of in compliance with local waste regulations.
  3. Surface cleaning and sanitization. We clean the attic floor and framing surfaces, removing droppings and debris, then apply a sanitizing agent to neutralize pathogens associated with rodent contamination.
  4. Entry point identification and sealing. We identify and seal the points where pests entered the attic to prevent re-entry.
  5. Preparation for insulation. The cleaned attic is now ready for fresh attic insulation installation.

MATERIALS AND METHODS USED

Our attic cleaning process uses commercial-grade equipment and professional products not available at the consumer level. We use HEPA-filtered vacuum systems capable of extracting large volumes of contaminated insulation without releasing fine particulates into the home. Sanitizing agents are EPA-registered for residential attic use. All crew members in contaminated attics wear full respiratory protection and disposable suits.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY

A standard cleaning project in a typical Los Angeles home takes six to ten hours. Heavily contaminated attics or larger homes may require two days. Our crew sets up protective coverings at the attic access point, works systematically from the far end toward the access point, and removes all equipment and bagged material upon completion. We walk you through the documentation of the cleaned attic before leaving.

How do I know if my Los Angeles attic needs cleaning?

The clearest signs that your attic needs cleaning are evidence of pest activity, a persistent musty or ammonia odor in the home, visible mold or moisture staining, or insulation that is visibly disturbed or matted. An inspection will tell you definitively.

Is rodent contamination in attics dangerous?

Rodent droppings and urine can carry hantavirus, leptospirosis, and Salmonella. Disturbing contaminated insulation without proper equipment releases fine particulates containing these pathogens into the air.

Can I just add new insulation on top of a contaminated attic?

It is not recommended. Contaminated insulation cannot simply be buried under new material. The pathogens remain active, and the new insulation provides nesting material for any rodents that re-enter.

How long after cleaning can new insulation be installed?

In most cases, insulation can be installed the same day once sanitization is complete, and the attic has been ventilated appropriately.

Will the cleaning process disrupt my home?

The cleaning work is confined to the attic. You will hear equipment running, but the living areas of your home are not affected.
