Tujunga, or Sunland-Tujunga, is certainly among the most idyllic places to live in Los Angeles. Nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, it's one of the prime reasons why the San Fernando Valley is so widely acclaimed for its scenic beauty. But living under the shadow of Mount Lukens, the tallest peak in the L.A. area, doesn't automatically mean that your home is truly eco-friendly.
At Pure Eco Inc., we have a long track record of transforming Tujunga homes and businesses into truly energy efficient buildings that are also far more healthy for the environment. We offer a wide range of services, going far beyond insulation to address the full range of upgrades that can boost your home's energy efficiency, save you money, and reduce our collective carbon footprint. Our company exists for two overarching reasons:
We also include in our vision the highest standard of customer service, a commitment to customizing our services to the needs of each and every client, and a dedication to a consistently high work ethic - always showing up on time, working a "real" day, and putting true workmanship into everything we do.
Our wonderful staff offers comprehensive insulation installation and energy efficiency upgrade services for residential and commercial clients alike. We make it a point to provide every conceivable service related to saving you money on your energy bill, so you can save money, see the market value of your building rise, and be proud that you're doing your part to save the environment! While this is not an absolutely exhaustive list, below is a brief overview of our major service areas. (You can delve deeper into each topic by visiting the individual service pages elsewhere on this website.)
While our most core service is installation of new insulation, we mention air sealing first because it has to come first. Before you can lay down any insulation product, you have to make sure there are no air leaks or drafts that are going to compromise the effectiveness of the insulation's R-value and cause the insulation material to get dusty and/or damp. During the hottest and coldest months of the year, it's even more critical to have your attic air sealed, but it's important all year round.
Pure Eco's experienced staff knows exactly where to look for air leaks. Tell-tale signs like dusty batts, gaps around vents, and attic hatches with no weather stripping will be spotted without delay. Next, we use tools like a blower-door a fog-machine, or just a flashlight to locate less obvious air leak points. It takes different approaches to seal different types of air leaks. It might be a matter of caulking a small hole or crack, patching a larger gap with OSB board or plywood, or of putting heat resistant metal sheeting around a chimney that runs through the attic. We are always meticulous in identifying leakage points and in sealing them properly so they won't be a problem for you again.
A house without insulation will lose its conditioned air (hot or cool) so fast that your energy bill will skyrocket above what it could otherwise be. Additionally, old, ineffective insulation can also be a problem. We can remove and replace damaged insulation and install new insulation in its place OR install new insulation in a home or business that has none presently. We can also safely remove dangerous asbestos containing vermiculite insulations that are often in older attics. By creating a full insulation "envelope" for your building, you could see your energy bill fall by 30%, 40%, 50%, or more.
You can classify insulation by material or by the form that it takes - batts or loose fill. Loose insulation is also known as "blown-in" or "blown."
Batts consists of long rolls or pieces of insulation with some kind of a paper or aluminum backing to function as a vapor barrier, to hold the material together, and provide tabs that can overlap and be nailed to studs to hold each piece up.
Blown insulation consists simply of a loose jumble of pieces of some material or another. The pieces or chunks are blown through a plastic tube into an attic, wall, ceiling cavity, or other location by means of a powerful blower, typically located inside of an insulation truck.
The main benefits of batts include:
However, batts does have the disadvantage of not filling in spaces 100% compactly, leaving small air gaps inside. This is not necessarily a problem, but loose fill would fill the same space more compactly, which is its main advantage. Batts insulation normally comes is fiberglass or cotton material, both of which do a good job insulating. Cotton also has the plus of being made from recycled blue jeans.
Blown-in insulation is often used on attic floors, but it's also good to blow inside of walls and ceilings. At Pure Eco Inc., we always make sure blown insulation is installed so it lays evenly and compactly so you get the most out of it. Blow-in insulation is usually either made of fiberglass or of cellulose. Both insulate at about the same R-value, but cellulose has the benefit of being made from recycled paper.
Whether to use batts or loose fill insulation in a particular place, and which insulating material is best, are complex decisions. We can give you all the relevant information and the benefit of our deep-seated expertise to help you make a choice that fits your needs and budget while still yielding impressive results!
Planning on creating a baby room that needs to be extra quiet? Or maybe a media room? Or maybe you're just determined to block out noise from a nearby train track or a busy street? Our highly trained team can install ROXUL Soundproof Insulation products that will radically change the sound level in each room you insulate with it. The rock wool material that ROXUL is made of is unique and makes it easily the best soundproofing insulation product on the market today. We have deep experience in installing ROXUL products properly to get the highest performance. ROXUL not only greatly reduces sound transfer though your walls, but it also resists mold, insects, fire, and practically all other hazards that could affect insulation products.
Radiant barriers shouldn't be used as a substitute for proper insulation in an attic, but they make a great addition. A radiant barrier lays directly under the roof line and bounces radiant heat from the sun back outside the attic so it won't build up in the attic until it seeps down into the lower areas of your house.
Radiant barriers consist of multiple layers of aluminum material that is extremely reflective of radiant heat. They also have a paper or other backing to give them additional strength. When installed correctly, dust build up will be minimized - and that's important since a dusty surface will no longer be as reflective.
Our staff always installs radiant barriers according to manufacturer's recommendations and for optimal and long-lived performance. We can help you better understand how radiant barriers work and assist you in choosing the brand/type that's right for you!
Rodents in the attic are a huge problem, not only because it makes you scared to venture up there - especially at night, but also because rats and mice infesting an attic will soon enough spread to other parts of your house. Using similar methods to air sealing, we can rodent proof your attic, crawl space, or other area of your building. In fact, we can combine rodent-proofing and air-sealing services and do both at the same time.
Mice can fit through holes as small as a dime in some cases, so it's important no gaps are in your attic walls or ceiling. We can caulk, patch up all holes, and place metal grids over areas where rats might try to bite or claw their way in. We can also put covers on roof vents and a chimney cap on, plus cut back tree branches that are overhanging the roof - and giving rodents an easy route up onto it! Additionally, we can set traps to help you catch rodents already inside, and we can do professional cleaning services for both attics and crawlspaces.
Good ventilation is just as important as good insulation to a building. A poorly ventilated house can experience moisture build up leading to mold and mildew growth. And old, stale air needs to be periodically replaced by fresh outdoor air. We can install attic fans, ducts, and vents, whether new or replacement ones - or we can clean or repair existing ones, to optimize your home's ventilation system. Also, we are experienced at installing UV cleansers and air scrubbers, which can improve the quality of the indoor air you and your family breathe every day!

I already had my main attic done last year by a different company that did not do what they said they would and ended up damaging my ceiling. Decided to go with a different company this time around for a smaller attic of an addition that isn’t directly connected to the main attic.
The attic had no insulation at all (built in the 1930s). It needed debris vacuumed out, rodent proofing, and R-38 batt insulation.
After getting quotes from several folks, decided to go with Pure Eco. Quick turnaround, reasonably priced, good professional crew lead by Martin, and clear communication through my assigned contact Jasmine. Discussion and quote was based on photos I took. Contract and payment was handled all through e-doc services. And they made sure to give me an overview of the work done before leaving. The difference in temperature was a noticeable improvement that night.
Our home needed some serious insulation and duct work done. It was awful and quite old (the insulation shrunk to approximately 3″). We called three companies for a quote, and we only saw two. We decided to go with them, before seeing the third, because of the amazing deal they offered and because they would be able to do it immediately. Ben was our sales guy and he was more than helpful and extremely knowledgeable. He made sure to inform us that they are licensed, bonded, and have workers’ compensation insurance, which kept me at ease.
The following day was the installation. Ben told us that they would be there from 8AM – 7PM (latest). They arrived on time, and completed the job by 3PM!!! I was shocked and thoroughly pleased. William, the supervisor of our job, was extremely friendly, and his crew was very professional. They cleaned up their mess; it looked as clean as when they arrived.
I highly recommend them and think that anyone that uses them will do so as well. Hi
I am a firm believer in referrals from friends when it comes to anything for my home and this company was a good referral for sure. My husband and I love Pure Eco and would definitely recommend them to everyone.
They have very professional installers and managers. Everything went smoothly from the scheduling to the end of the job. They use new machines and trucks (I tend to judge a book by it’s cover, unfortunately).
We had them replace our duct system and they installed Radiant barrier. They came in and did their job and left with no mess behind. Definitely give them a try!
We recently bought a house in Canyon Country and the garage was completely exposed and got extremely hot this time of year. When it was 90 degrees outside, the garage was well over 100 degrees. I got quotes from about a half dozen companies but was the most impressed with Pure Eco, especially their representative Sara. She was very helpful and she worked with me on the quote and gave me a lot of of great suggestions as to the best way to get our garage as cool as possible while staying within our limited budget. She recommended insulating the ceiling and front gable and then putting in radiant barrier. Her team came out and did the job in one afternoon and cleaned up afterwards. And now our garage is a LOT cooler. I can definitely recommend Pure Eco.
